‘Chic simplicity’ – a concept for 125 room hotel located on an island reflects on an image of island surrounded by water. Simplicity of the past life of bay men and early settlers is combined with a touch of chic-ness – it’s like ‘the pearl necklace woman should not leave out when going to the beach’, Coco Channel once said. The space of the hotel provides a modern, comfortably chic enclosure that contrasts with the industrial surroundings. Monochromatic in its color palette, the space’s charm is built on contrast in texture and the play of light.project location: Long Island City, NY / in construction
- CORPORATE – AN ASSOCIATION
Transitional design brings an association with traditional values to the 21st century. In the space of approx. 50,000 sf, layers of translucent materials express and communicate the management’s commitment to transparency as a way of new communication to employees, and members as well as the public.
project location: Washington D.C. / constructed in 2008
- CORPORATE – AN OFFICE
Contemporary, boutique-like feel drives the design of approx. 6,000 sf office space for a real-estate development firm. Conceptually evolved around a street grid and tactile qualities of traditional, European cities, the design features an open, shared environment of ‘a courtyard’ framed by feature walls that separate the courtyard from the work environment. A textured, warm palette of finishes together with sophisticated lighting design enhances the concept, and communicates the firm’s identity as a leader in high-end real estate market to its employees as well as potential clients.
